In each question be low is given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the following assumptions and decide which of the assumptions is implicit in the statement.

Give your answer as;

  1. if only assumption I is implicit.
  2. if only assumption II is implicit.
  3. if either I or II is implicit.
  4. if neither I nor II is implicit.
  5. if both I and II are implicit.

Question : 31

Statement:
Unless the officials do their duty honestly and with the spirit to serve the nation, the constitution of any number of safety boards amounts to nothing but paper work.
Assumptions:
I. Safety boards are useless.
II. Employees of the department can prevent accidents.

a) if only assumption I is implicit.

b) if only assumption II is implicit.

c) if either I or II is implicit.

d) if neither I nor II is implicit.

e) if both I and II are implicit.

Answer: (b)

Even a good suggestion by safety boards cannot prevent accidents if the employees will not desire to implement those suggestions.

Hence II is implicit and I is not implicit.
